Ask our AI about the job

Not sure what you need? Just describe it.

Tell it how many windows and doors, roughly how big, what they are made of now and what is wrong with them — draughts, rot, noise, condensation, heat. It works out which jobs you are looking at, prices what the rate card covers and says plainly what needs a measure-up.

What will the apertures cost?

Every window and external door in a property, by floor area and specification — or window by window, from the published Maltese prices we could find. One rate card, the source beside every line.

110 m²

Basic is standard white PVC or plain aluminium with ordinary double glazing. Luxury is thermal-break aluminium or a heavier PVC system with better glass. Super Luxury and Ultimate are slim-frame and large sliding systems or bespoke timber; they come out as a range because the system decides the number.

Indicative figures from this site's rate card: turnkeymalta.com's whole-property line and published Maltese prices and guides. Not every Maltese guide says whether VAT is included; the quote states it. A free survey and measure-up turns these into a fixed, itemised quote.

Describe the windows.
We'll work it out.

A photo of the window or the façade, or just a sentence. It asks what it needs and tells you which parts have to wait for the measure-up.

Tell me about the windows and doors — how many, roughly how big, what they are now — and whether you want to replace them, add double glazing, fit shutters or fix something.

Attach a photo of the window, door or façade and it will read what it can. Files are passed straight to the assistant and never stored. Prices come only from the rate card; anything it has no Maltese figure for is quoted after the measure-up.

How Windows.mt works

Most aperture problems in Malta are one of three things: old single-glazed timber or aluminium that lets the heat, the noise and the dust straight in; a sliding door that no longer slides; or a frame that was never sealed into the stone properly. We look first, then quote. We survey and measure every job ourselves, free, then either take it on as your contractor with CheckYourTraders-verified installers, or introduce a vetted partner who quotes and contracts with you directly. Either way, one point of contact with us from the survey to the handover.

Free measure-up
We measure every opening, look at the reveals and the sills, and note what is there now, what it is made of and what is wrong with it.
02
📊
Itemised quote
Frame, glass, hardware, removal of the old apertures and making good, line by line — with PVC, aluminium and timber side by side if you want to compare.
03
✅
You approve
Nothing is ordered until you have seen the quote and said yes — and you know which route delivers it: us as contractor, or a vetted partner.
04
🪟
Made and fitted
Made to measure, then fitted, fixed and sealed into the opening, with the reveals made good and the old frames taken away.
05
🔁
Checked after
Hinges, rollers and seals adjusted once the frames have settled, and the paperwork for any grant claim handed over.

Measured once.
Fitted properly.

An aperture is only as good as its fitting. A well-made frame badly fixed into a limestone opening still lets in water, dust and draughts — and in Malta most complaints about new windows are about the fitting, not the frame.

Need more than apertures?

Windows.mt is one of the CheckYourTraders trade sites. For shade outside the windows — pergolas, zip screens and awnings — there is Shade.mt; for the rest of the house, the same verified network and the same sourced-figures discipline.

We are actively looking for
the best aperture installers in Malta.

Windows.mt delivers jobs as the contractor or through vetted partners, and every installer comes from the CheckYourTraders-verified network. We want fabricators and installers who measure properly, fix and seal frames into stone the right way, and leave the reveals tidy — PVC, aluminium or timber, in Malta and Gozo.

Tell us what you do and where you work. When a job comes up that fits, we will put you in front of it.

We read every one. Verification through CheckYourTraders comes first; nobody goes on a job of ours without it.

Frequently asked questions

How much do new windows cost in Malta?
It depends on the material, the size and how many. Published Maltese figures: ready-made, double-glazed PVC windows in standard sizes retail at €169 to €319 each, supply only; supplied-and-fitted aluminium runs from €200 to €450 per square metre of window for a standard profile and €350 to €700 with a thermal break; a typical two-panel sliding patio door €700 to €2,000. Made-to-measure PVC and timber are quoted after measuring. For a whole property, our calculator uses the same per-m² line turnkeymalta.com budgets with. The government's double-glazing grant can pay half of the eligible cost, up to €1,000.
PVC or aluminium apertures — which is better in Malta?
Neither wins everywhere. Aluminium conducts heat far better than PVC, so an aluminium frame needs a thermal break to come close to PVC for insulation; in exchange it allows slimmer frames and larger sliding panels. PVC is usually the cheaper of the two and needs little maintenance. Near the sea, ask what the hardware and the finish are rated for. We quote both side by side on the same openings.
Do I need a permit to replace my windows?
Usually not. Under the Development Notification Order (S.L. 552.08, Schedule I, Class 1(ii)) replacing apertures on windows, doors and balconies is permitted development as long as it does not materially alter the character of the building and its surroundings. In scheduled buildings or buildings the Planning Authority considers of conservation value, original timber apertures and balconies in good enough condition must be kept and restored, not replaced. In a block, check your condominium rules for the façade.
Is there a grant for double glazing in Malta?
There is one open now. REWS's Roof Insulation and Double Glazing (retrofitting) scheme pays 50% of the eligible cost of double-glazed apertures, VAT included, up to €1,000, on the home you live in, until 31 December 2026 or until the funds run out. Apply online before you buy anything: the apertures must come from a REWS-registered retailer, reach a U-value of 3.7 W/m²K or better and be fitted within six months of approval. REWS decides who qualifies, not the installer.
What are persjani?
Persjani are the traditional Maltese louvred shutters, fitted outside the window. They keep the sun off the glass while letting air through, which is why they still make sense in a Maltese summer. They are made in timber, aluminium and PVC; in old houses and conservation areas timber, restored where possible, is usually the expected finish.
Will double glazing make my home cooler in summer?
It helps, but glass is only part of it. A double-glazed unit slows the heat moving through the glass and cuts street noise; low-emissivity or solar-control glass slows the sun's heat further. Shade outside the glass — persjani, a pergola, an awning — stops the sun before it reaches the window at all. We will not promise a saving on your bill: it depends on the house, the orientation and how you run it.
